5 Reasons to Check Out the New Chevrolet Tahoe
Are you searching for a quality, affordable sports utility vehicle? Are you struggling to find something to seat a large number of people, that offers comfort and luxury along with modern amenities? If so, then you should join the thousands of others that have been amazed by the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe.
A huge upgrade on previous models, the new Chevrolet Tahoe is ideal for anyone setting foot in the SUV market. Read on to find out our five really awesome reasons this is the SUV of the year.
- New Chevrolet Tahoe Size
The new Tahoe and Suburban are almost the same vehicle. The Tahoe is the slightly smaller of the two, mounting itself on the short version of the platform. The Suburban adds an extra 15 inches in overall length and 13 inches of wheelbase.
By no means does that indicate the Tahoe is small. Yes, you do get extra cargo room in the Suburban, but neither sacrifice any seating space for it, including in the all-important third row. In fact, this row has around 10 inches of extra legroom on the previous model.
Access to them is also improved, with second-row seats that now slide forward and backward. With the second and third-row folded down, you can expect 12 cubic feet of space for anyone switching between cargo and passenger transportation.
- Safety
It is apparent that Chevrolet has gone all out on safety in its new car. This comes in the form of a host of driver-assisted technology features.
Lane departure warnings and lane-keeping assistance are included. Rear cross-traffic alerts and blindspot monitoring are also available. Forward-collision warnings, a rearview camera, and automated emergency braking come as standard.
7 airbags come as standard in the bucket seat models. One excellent family orientated feature is the ability to set limits for audio and speed for secondary drivers, should the car be driven by less experienced members of the family.
Anyone who opts for one of the upgraded models can really enhance the features. Surround-view parking cameras, reverse automatic emergency braking and a head-up display can all be fitted.
All Chevrolet SUVs have a limited and powertrain warranty. The limited covers three years or 36,000 miles. The powertrain warranty covers five years or 60,000 miles. Your first visit includes complimentary maintenance.
- Cabin
The most noticeable improvement on the previous model is the lower load floor, which becomes apparent as soon as you step into the vehicle. Upfront, the column shifter has been replaced with a push-button and slider.
This model also includes a motorized, retractable center console. Once pulled back, this can provide an extra 10 inches of storage between the seats. It is a convenient and excellent place to store any valuables.
Control is in the hands of the driver. Tailgate control mounts in the ceiling for easy access and a host of other controls are in touching distance on the left hand of the steering wheel.
What really makes it one of the best new cars on the market for families is the infotainment system. The 10.2″ diagonal multi-color reconfigurable infotainment screen has viewing capabilities in the back with two 12.6-inch touch screens, keeping passengers entertained on long journeys. It has a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot capability, allowing you to stay connected as you travel.
- Engine
The new Chevy provides a choice of 3 engines, a 5.3 Ecotec3 V8, a 6.2 Ecotec3 V8, and a Duramax 3-liter turbo diesel. Both petrol engines have an estimated 20 mpg highway with 10-speed automatic transmission. The smaller of the engines can push out 355 horsepower with 383 lb.-ft of torque, while the larger gives 420 HP with 460 lb.-ft of torque.
For anyone opting for the diesel engine, the 10-speed transmission is retained. It combines with 277 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft of torque. Only one trim level can be upgraded from the 2 wheel drive to the 4, coming as standard in the Z71 trim.
- Range of Trims
Chevrolet has provided the Tahoe with a selection of trims and upgrades, each with a range of new 2021 Chevy Tahoe features. The base model is the LS and is more than adequate for a large family or party, with its 9 seats and generous infotainment system.
The next step up is the LT, and it provides a host of extra features to make the cabin and journey more comfortable. These include an upgrade to a Bose speaker system, wireless device charging, and leather-trimmed, heated front seats. These seats can also be added to the second row for an additional fee.
Most of the features from the LT are in the next upgrade, the Z71. However, more engine and driving features are added such as premium suspension, hill descent control, a sturdier air filter, and a front skid plate. It is also the only model in the range available with four-wheel drive.
At the premier package, the luxury really starts to kick in. Leather upholstery and 12-way power adjusted front seats upgrade the comfort. The driver alert package and luxury package options from previous trims are also added. For some very unique styling, you can also add to it with the limited Texas edition upgrade.
Finally, the top model and the only one available with the more powerful V8 engine is the High Country. Features include adaptive air suspension and magnetic ride control for a much easier journey. Trailering systems, brake controls, and power-retractable steps are all available.
